F.H.T Hawley born on 10 August 1860 only son of Gen. Beaufoy Hawley, Adjutant General was gazetted into the 2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys) 11 August 1880. Rising swiftly through the ranks he became Adjutant 18 January 1892 and later Major on 3rd April 1897.
He died in South Africa 27th April 1900 of disease at Bloemfontein in his 39th year.
